please stop telling us how we are supposed to look like, what we are supposed to eat and how to best lose weight. We are fine the way we are. By the way, you are the reason why so many people struggle and have a wrong body image ... Maybe you can think things over before you put so many people in this situation.

Hi I really loved your picture, I'm starting a website about responsable weight control, we are from Mexico and we feel some things must be said. We wrote an article in how media influences your body image and I belive your work describes exactly what we are trying to say. I would really like to use it for our website if you are ok with this. Thanks a lot and I'll wait for your answer
thank you so much for your message! I'm glad that you like my picture and could use it for your website..i think this is a very important topic so i think it is awesome that you try to make people aware of this topic. you can use my picture as long as you give me credit (eiter please give me credit by putting my name under the picture - Katharina Fösel - or linking to my deviantart page!)
please also give me a link to the article when you are done
i love it and i totally agree the media gives the impression we should all have a models body when in truth very few have a "model" body but models are the abnormal ones in life not everyone can be that skinny
people just need to realize this and accept it people need to learn to love what is there not what they think should be there
perhaps someone was more right than they ever knew when they said, 'god is in the tv.' people believe tv because they are too lazy to think for themselves and they refuse to just enjoy their own lives they have to learn about the reason 'britney' missed her last court appearance. (why on earth are we on first name basis with these people??) even more so what difference does it makes in anyones lives? im not saying tv is bad, its just abused and taken far too seriously.
T.V. is like religion, we all need some thing to believe in and as human we can't think for ourselves. we need guide lines to follow in life and the media give us those guide lines. if we want to look good and there is no one telling us how to look good then we would all be walking around naked or wearing very bad clothes
true guide lines are a good idea. well as far as religion is concerned anyway. dont kill dont steal good stuff right there. but: "You are not your bank account You are not the clothes you wear You are not the contents of your wallet
You are not your bowel cancer You are not your grand latte You are not the car you drive You are not your fucking khakis"
this is your life. not mtvs. not covergirls. not your friends. parents etc. the only exception is your children.
and when you say then you would be walkin around in bad clothes, what makes clothes bad? well, its all of the above. its up to you and you alone to determine for yourself how you want to look and dress. thats why people make fun of others because they arent whats 'cool'. and so what? i mean seriously what difference does it make? youre not going to make it to heaven if you have nikes or not. people arent going to say when i die, "yeah he was an ass but he sure had some cool pants!"
i can go on but i think you get the point im trying to make... haha.
bad clothes are the ones that smell bad and has holes in them. you may not wear what one group sees as cool but i'm sure you wear stuff that another group sees as cool so in the end your still listening to the media one way or another. yes it's not good to full listen to the media and let it control your life but in the end you won't able to do any thing if you don't listen to any thing that the media says. the media tells us to wear clothe look smart stay healthy go to school become successful. if you went and do every thing the media told you not to you would get very far in life and in fact you would die an early death
haha excellent point. everything you do has already been done. and its not all bad what the media says, plenty of nice health tips. stinky clothes are unpleasant to be around i cant help that. but does it make them any less of a person? i doubt gandhi smelled amazing. i dont recall many pictures seeing him wearing a business suit. (if any). and on the other hand im sure hitler dressed nicely all the time. basically clothes and appearance do not define you. actions do. you can be successful at anything you put your heart into. (good or evil). so whats so wrong about just basing a decision off of your own thoughts and how it feels. i mean you take your first drag off of a cigarette and youll cough. because youre breathing in smoke. and most the time it tastes terrible. i dont need to read the side of a cigarette box to know that its not the most healthy thing to do. its common sense which alot of people seem to look for in the news and magazines. im not saying disregard the media, im saying let it be a guide rather than a rule book. but who am i to say any of this really? i think alot of people are happy living that way. (id hope they were happy anyway) its a personal decision really.. and speaking of gandhi he said one of the most profound things ive ever heard. 'be the change you wish to see in the world' thats all anyone ever can do. i do and wear exactly as i want. im completely happy.
the media is like religion. you can listen to every word it says and fallow them with full detail and belief or you can use it as a guide to help you threw life. so in the end as much as we hate to admit it but some people need the media like other need religion.
I'm not a religious person and i don't give a rats ass about the media but i use both rules as guides to help me threw life
nice work!! and hey done forget about the news media!! theyre just as bad.. (i did a photo on it titled, lieslies_cognitiveDISSONANCE) also maybe people need to start thinking for/ being themselves. and its also very strange how the 'roper' image has changed so much. marilyn monroe was a size twelve. 12! and that wasnt too long ago. i could only imagine what the future will bring if we dont stop this now...
This is a beautiful image with a beautiful statement!
I struggle with weight issues, and have all my life, and it has taken a beautiful husband, and a lot of contemplation to realize that i deserve love just the way i am! Love, from myself and from others..
Im so glad to see artists talking about these issues and spreading such a positive message!
